Living Our Professional Practice Model
At NYU Langone Health, our nurses and nursing support staff practice in an environment that supports clinical excellence, meaningful relationships, and professional growth.
Our Nursing Professional Practice Model (PPM) defines how nurses deliver care, collaborate with colleagues, and advance their practice across our health system. Developed with input from nurses throughout the organization, the model reflects the shared values that guide nursing practice and shape the culture of care at NYU Langone Health.
Grounded in Relationship-Based Care, our model recognizes that exceptional healthcare is built on strong relationships—between nurses, patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team.
For nurses who join NYU Langone Health, the Professional Practice Model provides a clear framework for practicing at the top of your license while growing as a clinician, leader, and innovator.
Hear from Chief Nursing Officer Debra Albert to explore the six core elements of the PPM that guide how our nurses and nursing support professionals practice every day.

I was a Student Nurse Extern during my last year in nursing school and I was in awe of how well everyone worked together, and how much they truly cared about their patients. I knew I wanted to be a part of this amazing team, and I am still here 32 years later. In that time, I have utilized tuition assistance to obtain a Masters in Nursing Administration and used available opportunities to enrich my leadership skills and explore new avenues in my career.
